Empowering Acute Leukaemia patients
New Health Centres on PatientPower
In collaboration with PatientPower and the Patient Empowerment Network, and with industry grant funding, our team embarked on a mission to support acute leukaemia (AL) patients with critical educational information when they need it most.
In order to better understand patients’ needs, we identified and mapped existing content from over 70 patient groups in 19 European countries. We then developed a library of over 80 expert videos for two new online health centres focused on Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) and Acute Myeloid Leukaemia (AML).
Content was developed in collaboration with patient groups and global leukaemia experts, and validated by experts involved in the initiative.
Within nine months, expert videos collectively received 69,885 unique views with the platform becoming the second most influential Twitter account on AL, globally.
On the 1st April 2017, phase II of the AL health centre project will launch. Building on existing content to better reflect the patient experience, new features will include:
– Educational, patient-friendly written and video content translated into 6 different European languages
– A handy treatment centre mapping tool
– Fresh video content from the world’s leading AL experts
– A treatment journey tool, allowing patients to better understand each stage of the AL journey
