Our innovative programmes are designed to meet the needs of today’s busy healthcare professionals and patients, who need rapid access to informative, trustworthy and up-to-date online content.

Following a period of sustainable and robust growth, we are looking to expand our medical writing team and nurture a talented and motivated medical writer with up to 2–3 year’s experience. This position can be office-based*, mixed, or home-based**.

The ideal candidate would have the following attributes:


  • Life science degree (BSc or MSc)
  • At least 3 years of experience working in a medical communications agency
  • Experience in writing medical content for digital assets for brand and medical education teams
  • Excellent writing and communication skills
  • Ability to understand detailed medical and scientific information in various therapeutic areas
  • Knowledge of industry guidelines (i.e. ABPI)
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Team player who can work to deadlines
  • A proactive attitude and willingness to learn and develop new skills


  • PhD in life sciences
  • Experience in writing for the therapeutic areas of oncology or psychiatry
  • Experience in writing for digital assets, such as websites, apps, animations and other videos.
  • Experience in working in a fast-paced, agile environment, and managing own workload independently
  • Experience in the development of brand messaging and content strategy
  • Experience using Word, PowerPoint and Adobe Suite

Key role responsibilities include:

Scientific Knowledge and Understanding

  • Demonstrate knowledge of relevant medical and scientific content (terminology, scientific/medical concepts, study designs, statistical concepts)
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the therapeutic areas covered by allocated accounts
  • Interpret and explain clinical data from a variety of sources, including research documents, tables, figures, and listings
  • Perform literature research as needed to support projects or accounts


  • Gather, review and analyse pertinent resources to produce high-quality content assets with minimal support
  • Develop a wide range of content assets, including digital, print, and video with minimal support
  • Develop assets that meet internal and external needs
  • Develop assets that are appropriate for the intended audiences
  • Revise assets and facilitate issue resolution among team members to deliver assets with quality, speed, and value
  • Support the development of assets initiated by other teams (e.g. client services)
  • Revise and repurposes existing content with minimal support


  • Deliver written / visual assets that tell a narrative, with minimal support
  • Employ creative writing skills to develop engaging scientific content, with minimal support
  • Employ creative skills to suggest visual ways to bring content to life, with minimal support

Medical Communications Strategy

  • Develop product and disease key messages with minimal support
  • Develop strategic plans, which include the implementation of key messages and scientific narrative across multiple assets and activities with support from Content Lead

Project/Time Management

  • Manage own time efficiently, and deliver assets within established timelines
  • Delegate work efficiently to other team members, including other non-editorial colleagues
  • Support Account Managers in the development of accurate budget estimates and timelines
  • Identify issues and implement solutions in a timely manner, and flag broader issues to Account Manager
  • Attend client and team meetings, when appropriate
  • Liaise with external contractors and suppliers, when required, providing a clear outline of requirements


  • Demonstrate good written and oral communication skills, internally and externally
  • Where appropriate, liaise with clients with clear written and oral communications

Mentoring / Line Management

  • Support the development of onboarding and training resources for the agency
  • Coach and mentor less experienced team members
  • Influence without authority
  • Provide constructive and positive feedback
  • Demonstrate good listening skills
  • Seek feedback from less experienced team members on coaching / mentoring skills

New Business

  • Flag any potential opportunities for organic business growth to Account Lead
  • Support Account Lead with the development of new business proposals, as required
  • Attend new business pitches, as required
