Account Director


At Brandcast Health, we help our clients create and share engaging promotional and educational content with the healthcare and patient communities. Our innovative programmes are designed to meet the needs of today’s busy healthcare professionals and patients, who need rapid access to informative, trustworthy and up-to-date online content.

Following a period of sustainable and robust growth, we are looking to expand our client services team with a talented and motivated Account Director with 5 years’ experience or more.

This position is currently home-bases due to the pandemic. Flexible working-from-home options will be available once we’re able to return to the office, but this is a mostly office-based position.

The ideal candidate would have the following attributes:


  • At least 1 year of experience working in a MedComms agency as an Account Director, and a minimum of 5 years of experience in MedComms
  • Experience in managing digital promotional and medical education campaigns
  • Experience in the development of brand, comms, and digital strategies
  • Experience in leading accounts of prescription medicines
  • Experience in leading teams of 2 to 4 people
  • Team player who can lead successful teams, by motivating and inspiring colleagues
  • A problem solving and can-do attitude
  • Excellent writing and communication skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Knowledge of industry guidelines (i.e. ABPI)


  • Life science degree (BSc or MSc)
  • Experience in leading accounts in the therapeutic areas of oncology or psychiatry
  • Ability to pick up new accounts with little support, until a new team is established
  • Experience in leading projects for digital assets, such as websites, apps, animations and other videos.
  • Experience in working in a fast-paced, agile environment, and managing its own team’s workload independently
  • Experience in the development of brand, comms, and digital strategies
  • Experience using Adobe Suite (e.g. Adobe Xd)

Key role responsibilities include:

Project Management

  • Ensures team is independently managing project plans, including timelines and resources on all accounts allocated
  • Ensures team independently identifies issues and risks, and implements an optimal solution
  • Ensures larger issues are dealt with appropriately, without damaging relationships (internal or external)
  • Ensures team understands and adheres to agency processes
  • Proposes and implements improvements to agency processes

Account Management

  • Ensures team independently manages day-to-day communications with the client, and supports when required
  • Communicates with the client regularly, to ensure satisfaction with work developed, and to provide/receive/manage feedback
  • Ensures team maintains professional and supportive client communications
  • Develops and maintains account plan, based on a full understanding of clients’ business goals
  • Ensures team is aligned on account objectives
  • Supports the management of all allocated accounts
  • Independently oversees accounts of £500,000/year or above

Financial Acumen

  • Ensures team independently develops accurate budgets for all projects
  • Ensures team independently develops reconciliations accurately and on time on all jobs
  • Ensures team liaises with suppliers professionally and that discounts are negotiated when possible
  • Ensures team independently generates all invoices accurately and on time
  • Ensures team develops and maintains forecasting sheet for all allocated accounts, including yearly forecast


  • Collaborates with the Editorial team to define content direction and strategy based on the client brief
  • Ensures team independently develops accurate and detailed briefs for production teams
  • Demonstrates, and ensures the team has impeccable attention to detail
  • Ensures team independently performs quality checks on all assets, on allocated accounts
  • Ensures team supports the Editorial team with scientific accuracy, reference, and sense checks, on allocated accounts
  • Ensures team independently produces content that matches client brief
  • Demonstrates a full understanding of the code of practice (e.g. ABPI), and ensure compliance on all content produced
  • Ensures team has a full understanding of the products/brands and therapeutic areas covered by allocated clients
  • Ensures team has a good understanding of what good content is, in various formats (e.g. video, web, print)

Medical Communication Strategy

  • Supports clients with their marketing/MedEd strategy, and makes recommendations where appropriate
  • Demonstrates awareness of new trends, identifies opportunities to innovate within this space, and implements new approaches in collaboration with MCD
  • Demonstrates a full understanding of omnichannel approach used by Company, and implements it throughout accounts
  • Demonstrates a full understanding of communication strategy applied by agency, and implements it throughout accounts
  • Ensures team has a full understanding of the industry

Digital Strategy

  • Collaborates with Head of Digital, as required
  • Ensures team has a full understanding of various digital formats and platforms used in the agency
  • Ensures team can independently manage the development of various digital assets
  • Oversees the implementation of UX approaches
  • Keeps up to date on the latest innovations relevant for industry and shares them with the broader team

Mentoring/Line Management

  • Supports the development of onboarding and training resources for the agency
  • Coaches and mentors less experienced team members
  • Successfully manages several team members, including setting objectives and assessing their achievement, and evaluating job performance
  • Influences without authority
  • Provides constructive and positive feedback
  • Demonstrates good listening skills

New Business

  • Recruits other team members with relevant skills to support the development of new business proposals
  • Supports the Company’s marketing drive, raising the Company’s profile
