The Manliest Movember Ever

Written by Victoria Louise Crump-Haill – Digital Strategist/Account Director‏

The manliest event in the world, Movember, is already upon us and MadeMan (a proud partner of Movember) has enlisted the help of actor and renowned mustache grower, Nick Offerman (Parks & Recreations) to show the uneducated masses how it’s done.

Take notes gentlemen, he’s a professional…

Despite the video‘s humourous tone we must not forget the aim of Movember, which is to raise vital funds and awareness for men’s health, specifically prostate cancer and testicular cancer.

By encouraging men (“Mo Bros”) to get involved, Movember aims to increase early cancer detection, diagnosis and effective treatments, and ultimately reduce the number of preventable deaths. Besides getting an annual check-up, the Movember Foundation encourages men to be aware of any family history of cancer, and to adopt a healthier lifestyle.

Prostate cancer statistics:

  • Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men in the UK
  • Every year nearly 35,000 men are diagnosed with the disease and 10,000 men die from it
  • In 2005-2009, 81% of men in England survived their prostate cancer for five years or more
  • If prostate cancer is diagnosed early, there’s a good chance that treatment will successfully control the disease
